The reason comes down to facial anatomy. Breeds that drool heavily typically have loose, pendulous jowls and lips that collect and release saliva freely. Barbets have a tighter lip structure, which means saliva stays where it belongs — inside the mouth — rather than pooling and dripping.

Is the drool level manageable?

Entirely manageable — there's virtually nothing to manage. Barbets are about as drool-free as dogs get. It's one of their more underrated practical qualities, especially for owners who are house-proud or who have light-coloured furniture.
