Privacy Policy

Who we are

ForTheBreed is a UK-based dog breed information website operated at forthebreed.co.uk. For any data-related queries, contact us at [email protected].

What this site does not do

ForTheBreed is a static informational website. We do not have user accounts, registration forms, comment sections, newsletter sign-ups, or any e-commerce functionality. We do not set any cookies ourselves.

Data we collect

Our web server automatically records standard access logs when you visit any page. These logs include:

  • Your IP address
  • Browser user agent string (browser type and version)
  • The URL of the page requested
  • The referring URL (the page you came from, if any)
  • Date and time of the request
  • HTTP response code

This is standard behaviour for any web server. These logs are used solely for diagnosing technical issues and understanding general traffic patterns. We do not use them to identify or track individual visitors. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days and then deleted.

Third-party services

Google Fonts. This site loads fonts from fonts.googleapis.com. When your browser requests a font file, Google receives your IP address and browser information. Google may set cookies as part of this request. This is outside our control. You can review Google's privacy policy for details.

We currently use no analytics service. If this changes, this policy will be updated before any analytics are added.

Your rights under UK GDPR

As a UK resident, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access. You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure. You can ask us to delete personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to portability. You can request your data in a portable format.
  • Right to object. You can object to processing of your personal data.

Given that the only data we hold is IP addresses in short-lived server logs, and those are not linked to any identifiable account or profile, exercising most of these rights in practice means requesting deletion of server log entries associated with your IP address. To do so, contact us at [email protected].

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.

Changes to this policy

If we make any material changes — for example, adding analytics — we will update this page and revise the "last updated" date above.
